The Antibiotic Resistance Action Center Unveils New Website and Monthly Newsletter

October 26, 2022

WASHINGTON, DC (October 27, 2022) – The Antibiotic Resistance Action Center (ARAC) at the George Washington University’s Milken Institute of Public Health announced the recent launch of a new website, https://www.superbugsarenotfunny.com, and monthly newsletter.

The rebrand comes at a time when antibiotic-resistant infections have been recognized as the third leading cause of death globally. With that staggering statistic in mind, ARAC’s new website has one main focus: the immediate need to reform antibiotic use in food animal production.

"My dream is that we stop propping up this broken system with antibiotics. That we let farmers be farmers again, that we have animals live like healthy animals again, and that we save antibiotics for future generations. We can do this, but we have to act now,” says ARAC Founder and Co-Director, Dr. Lance Price.

The website includes several notable features such as a ‘Get Involved’ tab containing action items for more informed and responsible consumer engagement, including their sign-on pledge to “help protect life-saving antibiotics from overuse by purchasing meat raised with responsible antibiotic use,” and timely updates on the current landscape of antibiotic use in food animal production. Additionally, a ‘Blog’ section features both ARAC staff and guest posts on topics ranging from a call-to-action for grocery chains to play their part in curbing antibiotic use to tips for safe kitchen practices.

The accompanied launch of the monthly newsletter aims to provide readers with concise updates on the Center’s work and highlight key messages and news to equip many more people to join us in the fight to end antibiotic use.
