Graduate Research Assistant
Sharee Lopez is a graduate research assistant at ARAC. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Public Health in the department of Environmental and Occupational Health at the George Washington University’s Milken Institute School of Public Health. Sharee received her Bachelor of Science in Biological Anthropology at the University of California, Los Angeles. As an undergraduate she worked at the Reed Neurological Research Center, where she analyzed epileptic seizures in rats via electroencephalogram monitoring and implanting techniques. Sharee then worked as a chemical analyst for Advanced Technology Laboratories in the Wet Chemistry department testing water and soil samples while executing EPA methods. There, she conducted specialized analyses on inorganic and hazardous waste materials, such as amenable and total cyanide, total and dissolved sulfide, permanganate, ferrous iron, and perchlorate. Her fascination with science spurred her curiosity about the relationship between the environment and human health.
